Charles Davies (CHAZZ) - 203 HINTON ROAD HEREFORD HR2 6BW

As many of you must be aware, sadly, Shipmate Dennis Smith has passed away. Our thoughts will always be with Betty. We were VERY pleased to see her, stoically and bravely attend the last reunion. No doubt Betty herself will duly inform us of any plans she may have for continuing a role within the Association. I extend my sympathy at the loss of a fine man. I would like to count Dennis as having been one of my friends and he will be greatly missed at the our reunions. I don't know however we will all manage without him. At this moment in time the ship seems to have lost its helm....

Obituary:

His ashes were scattered in the Coral Sea by the RAN from their vessel HMAS Whyalla.
RIP.

Obituary - Phillip Derrick Evans & George Hinkins

With regret i wish to inform you of the passing of my father, on 17/1/2003, whilst on holidays with me in Australia. His body was returned to Wales where the funeral took place three weeks later. My father always looked back fondly on his time aboard the Formidable. The memories of his service and the time with his shipmates in Gibralter, Australia and Celyon were amongst his fondest. The death of his petty officer, George Hinkins, was a memory and a ghost that never left his side. The meeting with his widow 40 years later a very moving experience. - my father is sadly missed by his wife, three sons and 7 grandchildren.
